KINGDOM MINDED TRAINERS
Proverbs 22:6 (King James Version)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (Hebrew Greek English Interlinear Bible)
Train up a boy on the opening (on the mouth) of his way; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
In this scripture we find God directing us toward a mindset that is imperative in producing
growth, maturity and fulfillment of destiny for members of the body of Christ in these last days. The body of Christ is entering into its final hours, a time where the last generations of the church age walking in the fullness of the stature of Christ, will far surpass the unbelievable feats of the first generation of believers. To achieve that stature, as described in Ephesians 4:13 (Till we all come unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:) it is important that each member of the body of Christ is trained and equipped for the individual task and purpose God has predestined. But who does this daunting task of training fall on?
Proverbs 22:6 (King James Version)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Let us examine a few definitions to help us understand this scripture a little better The following definitions are from the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible:
Train: to narrow, initiate or discipline, dedicate
Child: from the age of infancy to adolescence, a servant, a girl, boy child, damsel, lad, young (man).
Way: a course of life or mode of action, along, away, because of, by conversation, journey, manner, toward
Go: the mouth, after, appointment, command, say, sentence, sound speech
Depart: to turn off, decline, leave undone, rebel, revolt, be sour, withdraw, be without
Applying these definitions our scripture reads as follows:
Narrow down or fine tune the direction, initiate, dedicate, and discipline to keep in line a servant, a young boy or girl from infancy to adolescence in the direction, course of life or the will of God for that individual child that they should go, by using your mouth to speak, and direct the child?s thinking and mindset and when they are old they will not leave, drift, stray from, lose interest in or be without training.
Think about this: Who is to be trained? A child. Who is commanded to do this training? It does not say. And it does not say train up your child, it says train up a child.
This simple commandment from God is talking about destiny. It is talking about directing a child, helping them along the path God has laid out for their individual life, and equipping and keeping them on the path to accomplish whatever God has called them to do.
Often people ask children, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" If we understood Kingdom mindset we would naturally recognize the danger of allowing children to determine their own destiny. What we should do is look to God for the answer to this question on their behalf.
There have been many cases where individuals know their destiny because it was revealed to them by God while they were young. My sister said since as far back as she could remember she wanted to be a teacher. She would line her dolls up in her room and teach them. She eventually graduated with a degree in Education. However, there are many of us whose destiny is not easy to foresee.
Rather than allowing children to eventually find their way, we need to seek God to reveal His plan for their lives.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In examining the scripture further, who is responsible for the training?
Proverbs 22:6 (King James Version)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
I was always under the impression it was the parents that were responsible, however this scripture does not say that. It also does not say train up your child. It simply says train up a child. The responsibility of training a child does not fall solely on parents, and in some cases it does not fall on the parents at all.
If we would take the time and pay attention we would realize that children in fact come in and out of our lives. It is crucial that we understand that the responsibility of providing guidance and training to a child [do not confuse this with parenting], and to equip them for the destiny God has for them falls on all of our shoulders. To walk in this particular Kingdom lifestyle requires us to be sensitive enough to recognize God's purpose in each and every child's life. This is not an easy task, but it can be easily done if we have a heart for and truly care about the child and would take the time to hear the voice of God in our involvement in their lives.
Is it possible to be this in-tuned to God? Absolutely! If you are saved then the Holy Spirit dwells on the inside of you and He will show you things to come regarding your life and the lives of the children that you encounter.
Following are examples of this Kingdom mindset found in the scriptures. Samuel's mother left him in the temple to be raised by the Priest Eli and Samuel went on to be a great Prophet. After David's heroic slaying of Goliath, King Saul would not permit him to return home. It was David's destiny to continue his training in the King's house. He had already been anointed to be King of Israel, how else would David learn how to be a king? Another example is Moses, which is truly an interesting one, because God placed Moses in an ungodly household to receive his development and training. God knew there were some important things Moses could learn growing up in the house of the leader of a nation.
To summarize, the training falls on all of our shoulders, but in order for it to be truly effective we need to only speak what we hear into the lives of these children. Begin to see greatness in them, look to God and He will show you their way, how you should direct them in speech and how to implement the training. If we can get a handful of people willing to adopt this way of life, the church can influence the world in ways never before seen. However, this can only be accomplished with a people who are prepared, trained, equipped and driven to carry out the will of God on earth as it is in heaven.
